The Cotswolds Olympicks

July 1, 2010

I found out today about Robert Dover‘s Cotswold Olympicks which date back to the early 17th century – predating the Much Wenlock Games (to be held next week) by 250 odd years. The 2010 Cotswold Olympicks games were held a few weeks ago. The equivalent of the modern olympic’s 100 metre sprint appears to be the shin kicking contest.  The organising committee appear to be gearing up for the 400th anniversary of the games which fortuitously falls in 2012. Like London 2012 they are also looking for volunteers to help them.
